SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A woman was rescued from a remote area of the Tahoe National Forest Saturday after being injured while kayaking the day before, Sacramento Metro Fire District said.
According to fire officials. the woman was kayaking on the North Fork of the American River Friday when she got hurt. She and her companions camped overnight in a remote area of the forest.
A helicopter responded to the area the next morning and quickly found the missing woman near Heath Springs Falls. Within eight minutes, firefighters say the woman was hoisted from the area and taken to a nearby landing zone to be transferred to a hospital through a ground ambulance.
