SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A teenager killed in a deadly stabbing at West Sacramento's Tower Bridge was identified Thursday.

The Yolo County Coroner's Office identified the teenager as 16-year-old Kirill Trush.

A Center High School sophomore died over the weekend, the district said in a statement Thursday. The Center Joint Unified School District said the student attended schools in the district since kindergarten.

"This loss is particularly poignant as the student has been with our district for many years, growing alongside peers and forming lasting bonds with teachers and staff throughout their educational journey. Our community is deeply affected, and our thoughts are with the family, friends, and all who knew the student," the district said in a statement.

The stabbing happened on Saturday, April 20. Around 5:15 p.m., officers with the West Sacramento Police Department responded to reports of a person bleeding at the Tower Bridge. Officers found a person with multiple stab wounds who later died at the scene. Police said a fight happened before the stabbing.

The stabbing is under investigation.
