FLORIN, Calif. — A man was arrested Wednesday in Florin after deputies say he shot and killed another man during a fight.
Around 12:30 p.m., deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting on the 7300 block of Del Prado Court, according to Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a sheriff’s office spokesman.
Upon arrival, they found a man lying on the street, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
Deputies arrested Reinaldo Rivera, 45, on suspicion of homicide. Gandhi says Rivera was allegedly involved in a fight with the victim outside of a home when Rivera pulled a gun and shot the man, according to law enforcement.
Rivera was on active parole for lewd acts upon a child aged 14 or 15 and “several other controlling charges,” Gandhi said. Homicide detectives located and arrested Rivera Wednesday evening, he said.
Rivera was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail early Thursday morning, jail records show. He faces a felony murder charge and a felony violating parole charge, records show.
He is ineligible for bail and is expected to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court Friday morning.
