Sacramento Police: Man was shot before being found dead near railroad tracks

Police are asking witnesses to reach out to investigators.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Officers with the Sacramento Police Department say they are classifying a man's death early Friday morning as a homicide.

According to police, officers found a man dead with at least one gunshot wound near the railroad tracks at Fernandez Drive and 38th Avenue around 12:08 a.m. Friday.

Officials say the circumstances surrounding the homicide are under investigation. Officers interviewed witnesses and processed the scene Friday. 

Witnesses with information are asked to call investigators at 916-808-5471. Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers is offering anonymity and a possible cash reward of up to $1,000 for information related to the case. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 916-443-4357.
