Pedestrian killed by train in Sacramento County

Union Pacific is investigating the incident and are being assisted by Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies, officials say

FLORIN, Calif. — A pedestrian died after they were hit by a freight train and was trapped underneath it Saturday afternoon in the Florin area of South Sacramento. 

According to Sacramento Metro Fire, the train collision happened at 4:10 p.m. on Florin Road between McComber Street and Reese Road. The involved train belongs to Union Pacific, officials said. 

When officials arrived to the scene, the train stopped on the tracks, delaying traffic and prompting road closures to the eastbound McComber Street and westbound Reese Road.

Union Pacific is investigating the crash and are being assisted by deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
