Man killed in Midtown Sacramento shooting identified. Police need public’s help with investigation

Colby James Tevis, 22, and another man were shot early Saturday along J Street, police said. Tevis died from his injuries at the hospital; the other man is stable.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The man killed in a shooting early Saturday morning in Midtown Sacramento has been identified.

Colby James Tevis, 22, and another man were shot just before 1 a.m. along the 2300 block of J Street, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The Sacramento Police Department said both men were brought to the hospital, where Tevis died from his injuries. The other man is in stable condition, officers said.

The department said it encourages anyone with information about the incident to call the dispatch center at 916-808-5471 or the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
