SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man is hurt after reportedly being shot by a resident while allegedly attempting to break into a house Wednesday morning in Sacramento, police said.
Just after 9 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Grand Avenue in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood to multiple reports of a shooting, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Police initially reported a man suffered at least one gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital for his injuries. One person was detained at the scene, according to law enforcement.
Later, officers said the man was attempting to break into the home of another man. The resident who allegedly shot the accused break-in suspect remained on scene, cooperated with officers and is not currently in custody, police said.
The break-in suspect is expected to survive his injuries, officers said. He is in custody, and his exact arrest charges are being investigated.
