Man identified after deadly crash on southbound I-5 in Sacramento

The California Highway Patrol said the crash was believed to be due to a medical emergency.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man who died in a crash Wednesday night along southbound Interstate 5 in Sacramento was identified Thursday. 

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office said the man was 59-year-old Moses Osoro.

The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a vehicle partially blocking a lane on southbound I-5 just north of Garden Highway around 8:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man in the vehicle. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Osoro died at the scene. Based on the initial investigation, the California Highway Patrol said the crash was believed to be due to a medical emergency. 

The lanes along southbound I-5 were closed while the crash was investigated and reopened later Wednesday night.
