Nevada City Council held a special meeting after a controversial Facebook post made by a councilwoman after the Dallas shootings.
The meeting started with a sorry by Nevada City Councilwoman Reinette Senum.
"I apologize for anyone I have not treated with dignity and I would like to change that because right now the rhetoric that I'm seeing in our nation is quite frankly absolutely scary," Senum said.
This special city council meeting was held to vote on a resolution in support of Nevada City police and law enforcement agencies around the country after Senum made comments following the Dallas shootings. It was passed unanimously.
She wrote a Facebook post saying she believed American law enforcement have "been given directives to go out there and kill."
A majority of people didn't accept her apology and some were emotional.
However not all who voiced their opinions were against Senum and say she's a great leader.
"I'm here to support Reinette," said Penny Matson, Nevada City resident. "I think she spoke without thinking and in passion and in anything that's true of Reinette."
However the Nevada City Police Officers Association want Senum to step down.
Several law enforcement agencies were at the meeting wearing blue ribbons.
