SACRAMENTO — New Helvetia Brewing Company released "Resilience IPA" Wednesday as part of a nationwide effort by breweries to support Camp Fire survivors.
New Helvetia is one of more than 1,400 breweries that signed up to brew the Resilience IPA, a beer created by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. According to the Chico-based Sierra Nevada, 100 percent of the sales will be going to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund, which will help in long-term community rebuilding support.

Iver Johnson is the head brewmaster at New Helvetia Brewing Company. He said they didn't have to think twice when Sierra Nevada reached out to them to brew the beer.
"I can't speak to one specific event [like this] that all craft [brewers have] come together like this," Johnson said. "We try our hardest to do what we can on a local level, but on a national level like this, I haven't seen anything this big."
Several dozen people came out Wednesday night for the release party. Johnson said the turnout was great to support the release party.
"It's an honor," Johnson said. "It really is an honor. I'm super proud to be part of the craft brewing community. It's one of those things that makes you realize why we do this."
Resilience Butte County Proud IPA is expected to hit the market in mid to late December for most breweries, with more than 17,000 barrels being made.

ABC10 Presents "California Wildfires: Escaping Paradise": When the Camp Fire ignited, it started a chain of events that allowed it to become the deadliest wildfire in California history, claiming lives in the town of Paradise, California and the surrounding neighborhoods of Concow and Magalia on November 8, 2018. There was no plan to handle an evacuation on this scale. Some people became trapped, oblivious to the evacuation orders that had been issued for their homes.
