One killed, two injured by drunk driver on HWY 99

One woman died and two men were injured after a drunk driver rear ended their car on Highway 99 early Saturday morning.

California Highway Patrol said 34-year-old Jian Saeteurn of Sacramento was driving a 2004 Infinity north on HWY 99 near Stockton Blvd when he hit a 2006 Dodge driven by Rajendra Parsad, 58 of Elk Grove. The impact caused Parsad to lose control of his vehicle, sending it crashing through the guard rail before it collided with a concrete pillar.

The Dodge was also carrying a 49-year-old woman in the front passenger seat who died, and a 29-year-old man in the rear passenger seat who suffered minor injuries, according the CHP. Parsad suffered major injuries.

The suspect also crashed his car after the collision and tried to flee the scene. He was caught by police and an investigation showed he had been driving under the influence of alcohol. Saeteurn was booked into jail for a felony DUI, felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter.

CHP South Sacramento is looking for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with any information is encouraged to call 916-681-2300.
