18-year-old hit, killed while riding scooter in Sacramento identified | Update

Police said the collision involved a vehicle and a woman on a scooter in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Cosumnes River Road.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — An 18-year-old woman died after being hit by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Sacramento.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, the collision involved a vehicle and a woman on a scooter in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Cosumnes River Boulevard around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. It's not clear what kind of scooter she was on.

Police said the 18-year-old was taken to a hospital in critical condition. She later died and was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as Kaylee Xiong.

The driver stayed at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with police. Police said DUI is not suspected as a factor in the crash.

The roadway near Franklin and Cosumnes River Boulevard was closed for the investigation and has since reopened.
