Driver missing after car crashes into Sacramento River

CHP says a 2012 Ford truck was driving southbound on River Road just south of Twin Cities Road when it crashed into the water.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A person is missing after a car crashed into the Sacramento River Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP says around 6 p.m. Oct. 27, a 2012 Ford truck was driving southbound on River Road just south of Twin Cities Road. The car then left the road, went down a hill and landed in the river for reasons unknown at this time.

A 47-year-old woman from Vacaville and a 39-year-old man from Davis were passengers in the car and managed to swim to shore.

CHP says the driver, who has not been identified but the passengers say is a 35-year-old man from Antioch, has not been found.

Multiple law enforcement dive teams returned to the river that weekend to tow the car out of the river, but the driver is still missing. No additional information is available.
