Man dies in Rio Linda crash, DUI may be a factor

A man was pronounced dead at the hospital after a rollover crash Saturday night.

RIO LINDA, Calif. — A man in his 20s died after a rollover crash Saturday evening in Rio Linda, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 6:54 p.m.Saturday near Rio Linda Boulevard and Crystal Road. CHP said the man was traveling southbound on Rio Linda Boulevard at 45-50 mph in a Toyota truck. The driver made an unsafe turn that caused the truck to veer off the road into a tree, the CHP said.

Firefighters were able to free the man from the truck. A Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District spokesperson said the driver's condition became life-threatening during transport to the hospital. No passengers were in the truck, according to the spokesperson.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to CHP. 

The CHP said it is investigating if DUI played a role in the crash.
