Rio Linda vegetation fire burns outbuildings despite some progress being stopped

About 30 minutes after responding, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews said forward progress on grass fire had stopped, but some structures still burned.

RIO LINDA, Calif. — Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews fought a fire Sunday afternoon in Rio Linda while trying to protect structures and livestock.

Just before 3:15 p.m., crews responded to the fire near I and 14th streets, which involves multiple outbuildings, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire. Examples of outbuildings include sheds, barns or garages.

Around 3:45 p.m., forward progress was stopped on the grass fire, but the outbuildings continued burning, authorities said. 

Officials said the fire extended to the grass, but no houses were damaged and no injured were reported.
