SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento's Broadway corridor is undergoing construction for the next couple of weeks due to the Broadway Complete Streets project.
Construction impacted drivers starting Sunday, May 19, and is expected to last until June 3, according to the city. The grinding and paving will be happening overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., except for the weekend.
Drivers can expect major lane shifts, temporary side road closures and driveway closures during construction.
The construction work is set to last a few hours per block on a given night and about four to five nights per block, according to the city. Detours and parking restrictions will be in effect in some areas.
The city said it recommends using X Street or Riverside Boulevard for detours.
The Broadway Complete Streets project is in the two-mile Broadway corridor between 3rd Street and 29th Street in downtown Sacramento. Once complete, it will have new bike lanes, pedestrian crossings and more.
The project is meant to improve traffic and safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
