SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento police are chasing a stolen Sacramento Fire Department car Saturday night, according to fire officials.
The pickup truck is used by the fire department's EMS captain, according to fire officials. The pickup truck was taken from Station 12 at 4500 24th St. in south Sacramento around 8:50 p.m., according to officials.
The chase officially began in the area of R and 30th streets, police say. Spike strips and "pursuit immobilization technique (PIT)" maneuvers were done to the stolen F150, disabling it.
The car stopped in the area of Calvados Street and Fairfield Avenue in north Sacramento. The suspect, identified by police as 32-year-old Desi Sanchez of Sacramento, was safely taken into custody around 10 p.m. after officers shot less lethal pepper balls into the truck.
He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of stolen vehicle and pursuit related charges.
