CALIFORNIA, USA — An inmate died at the Sacramento County Main Jail Sunday. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office said in an update Wednesday the man was identified as Lope Tolosa.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said the man died on May 5, 2024, after being in custody since May 2, 2024. He was taken into custody for a felony burglary warrant, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said around 10:30 p.m., deputies were checking cells in an area that housed inmates detoxing from substances. They found an unresponsive inmate who was by himself in a cell. The man died at the jail.
His name hasn't been released and he's only been identified as a 45-year-old man.
The sheriff's office is investigating the man's death.
