Person dies overnight at Sacramento County warming center

The person was pronounced dead at the hospital and the cause of their death is currently unknown.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A person died while staying in a Sacramento County warming center Monday night, according to officials.

The county says there was a report of a "guest in distress" which prompted CPR and paramedics to be called at the warming center at 1400 North A St. The person was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead, according to officials.

Staff and guests of the center now have access to support services and the person's cause of death is currently unknown. 

The County and First Step Communities are continuing to provide warming centers and shelters for people through the recent storms. No other information is available at this time.
