SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Firefighters orchestrated the water rescue of a deer Sunday morning in Sacramento County.
Just after 10 a.m., the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District began an animal rescue in a canal at Sunrise Boulevard and Jackson Road, according to PulsePoint.
Crews were able to safely catch a deer swimming in the canal, bring it ashore and place it in the care of Sacramento County Animal Care Services, the fire district said. The call was completed just before 11:30 a.m.
Fire officials said the deer was safely released at the Boys Ranch in Sacramento County.
