Fire crews busy overnight with multiple house, grass fires across the Sacramento region | Updates

Fire investigators are looking into the role fireworks played in starting the fires.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Fire crews across the Sacramento region responded to multiple fires Tuesday night.  Investigators are looking into which ones were sparked by 4th of July fireworks.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said crews were sent to about 130 fires and responded to multiple burn victims including a man who had to have a finger amputated after using fireworks.

Fires include (this list will be updated throughout the day):

  • Neighbors said they saw fireworks falling before a home caught fire on the 100 block of Stewarton Court in Vineyard's Vintage Park neighborhood. Flames went from the side of the home up through the attic.  Sacramento Metro fire crews are investigating the cause.
  • In South Sacramento, two homes were damaged on Faberge Way. A fire started between the two homes. Neighbors reported seeing fireworks before the fire.  Sacramento Metro fire crews are investigating the cause.
  • A home in Sacramento's Oak Park neighborhood on 1st  Ave. was damaged after a fire started on the side of the home.
  • A grass fire along Florin Road in Elk Grove. At the scene of that fire Elk Grove City Councilmember Darren Suen told ABC10 about the problems caused by all the fires on the 4th of July.  "As you can see so many resources are being spent it's not worth it, the damage they'll do to the property owners could be your neighbor's house not just not just the grass fire,” Suen said.
  • A home on Glenrose Ave. in north Sacramento was damaged in a fire that started on the side of the home. No one was hurt.
  • In Carmichael, a garage roof collapsed in a fire. No one was hurt.
  • Two homes were damaged on May Street in Sacramento's Del Paso Heights neighborhood. The Sacramento Fire Department said no one was hurt.
  • In Roseville, Roseville Fire Department crews put out a grass fire on the greenbelt between Westbrook Boulevard and Westpark Drive. The fire burned 50 acres.
