GoldenSky Festival: Here's how to get there and what roads will be closed

Expect busier traffic conditions near Discovery Park between Friday and Sunday.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The GoldenSky Festival returns to Discovery Park this weekend. 

Similar to Aftershock, it will impact traffic during festival days, from Friday to Sunday. Expect busy roads near Discovery Park, as well as increased traffic along northbound and southbound I-5 near Downtown Sacramento.

Road Closures

According to the Sacramento Police Department, these are the closures you can expect on festival days.

AM and PM hard closures are:

  • EB Garden Hwy at Natomas Park
  • WB Garden Hwy at Truxel
  • Jibboom St. entrance to Discovery Park
  • SB Natomas Park at Capital Park Dr.

PM additional hard closures:

  • WB Richards Blvd. at I-5 overpass
  • WB Garden Hwy at I-5 NB on-ramp

*No boater access at any time.

How to get there

Rideshare or Taxi: 

Pick-up and drop-off locations are available on both sides of the park. 

  • The Jibboom St. Pickup zone is the main festival rideshare zone, on the south side of Discovery Park located across the Jibboom Street Bridge.
  • The Garden Highway Pick-up Zone can be found on the North Side of Discovery Park on West El Camino Avenue, between Natomas Park Drive and Millcreek Road. 

Rideshare and Taxi:

Rideshare/Taxi pick-up and drop-off are available on both sides of the festival site. Please make sure you’re exiting on the correct side of the park at the end of the night. 

Bikes:

You can access Discovery Park via the Jedediah Smith Bike Trail. Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates will have a complimentary bike valet service that you can find near the Jibboom Street entrance. They will take bikes, scooters, and skateboards. The bike valet service will be available about 90 minutes before the gates open. 

Parking information

There is no parking on-site at the GoldenSky festival, except for ADA parking.

  • There are a few parking lots surrounding Discovery Park until sold out. These lots are not managed by GoldenSky.
  • According to the festival website, Parking is only accessible via West El Camino Avenue and Garden Highway will be closed to traffic. 

SacRT:

People attending GoldenSky can ride SacRT buses and light rail trains for free with a GoldenSky admission ticket/band, which is valid for entry that day. Be ready to show your ticket. 

SacRT will have supplemental bus service available from downtown Sacramento to Discovery Park. The bus departs from the 8th Street and K Street bus stop and drops off on Jibboom Street (near ARCO) on the south side of the park.
