SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Car clubs are more involved in the local community than you might think, said Sacramento Majestics World Wide car club president RC Thomas.
He told ABC10 they expect to turn up at Chorley Park in South Sacramento for the neighborhood's 'Trunk or Treat' Halloween festivities Oct. 28.
Not a unique situation, however, as Thomas said his car club and its members make an effort to connect with local leaders and organizations to see where they can help.
"As most would call it—we're trying to give back to the hood," he said. "Now, one thing I've learned after 25 years being in a car club, community services is something that we don't get recognition for."
Friend of the car club and organizer of the Trunk or Treat event Matt King contacted Thomas to get in on the fun and bring over some lowriders.
"The parents enjoy them a little bit more, a little bit more," Thomas said. "They don't have to walk around as much when most of the parents actually want to talk about the car, so it's pretty cool."
The Trunk or Treat event is part of King and the community's wider goal of revitalizing Chorley Park, as he said lingering unhoused people in the park keep families from visiting.
