'We need you back home': Sacramento mother pleads for missing daughter to come home

Kayla says the family hasn’t heard from Kamara in seven weeks.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A concerned Sacramento mother is pleading for help to find her 14-year-old daughter. She hasn’t been seen since Mother’s Day.

“It scares me because anytime I watch the news and they say they find a body, I don’t know if that’s my daughter,” said Kayla Green.

Green says her 14-year-old daughter, Kamara, had a disagreement with her on Mother’s Day. She took her daughter’s phone and within 24 hours the Monterey Trail High School student disappeared.

“The next day someone that was supposedly my daughter called the school police and said that she was OK and in Sacramento,” Kayla said.

Kayla says the family hasn’t heard from Kamara in seven weeks.

"I’m still missing my daughter. She’s 14 years old. She didn’t even get to finish her ninth grade year because she’s missing. I was just looking to see how do I get help? Who helps me?” Kayla said.

After reviewing messages on her daughter’s phone, Kayla is now fearing the worst.

“I saw that she was talking to a man for at least eight months and the content was very sexual in nature,” Kayla said.

Community Activist Berry Accius is urging the community to take runaway cases seriously.

“We don’t know what this 14-year-old is doing to survive. Let's really think about that. A 14-year-old Black girl is out somewhere surviving, figuring it out,” Accius said.

Kayla has message for Kamara as well.

“Your family misses you. You’re getting ready to have another little brother and we need you back home,” Kayla said.

If you see Kamara, call law enforcement immediately. The family is desperate for answers.
