SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man is dead and a dog is wounded after a shooting Wednesday, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The police department said the shooting was reported at a house around 5 a.m. in the Oak Park neighborhood along the 4600 block of 12th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot at least once inside a house. The man died at the scene and his identity hasn't been released.
The police department said a dog, believed to be associated with the man, was found wounded in the area. The dog was shot, according to police. Animal control responded and took the dog to get treated.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting. The police department said the shooting is believed to be contained to the home.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the shooting investigation.
