SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A child taken during a carjacking after a robbery on Thanksgiving in Sacramento has been reunited safely with their mother, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said.
Around 6 a.m., a woman was robbed at gunpoint at an ATM near Stockton Boulevard and Lindale Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Office. The suspect then allegedly stole her car with her 1-year-old child still inside, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the car was found abandoned near Florin Road and Fawn Way "minutes later" and the child was unharmed. The child was shortly reunited with their mother, the Sheriff's Office said.
The suspect was described as a male wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket, law enforcement said.
Robbery detectives obtained surveillance footage and released an image asking the public for help identifying the suspect.
