2 arrested after police standoff at Sacramento home

Around 3:30 a.m., officers responded along Astoria Street for a shooting.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Two people were arrested after a shooting and police standoff at a Sacramento home Monday, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Around 3:30 a.m., officers responded along Astoria Street for a shooting. Police say the two victims were driving a tow truck and attempting to repossess a vehicle when they were shot at but not injured.

Police detained one person who told officers a second, armed person may be inside the home. The second person eventually came out of the home around 10 a.m. and told officers a third person may still be inside.

The third person was detained shortly after 10:30 a.m. SWAT officers cleared the home around 11:15 a.m.

Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Cody Tapley says a total of four people were detained, but only two will be formally arrested and charged.

Police identified the suspects as 58-year-old Robert Anderson and 60-year-old William Anderson from Sacramento.

"These are very dangerous incidences where people confront somebody with a firearm over property. It's just a very dangerous situation for everyone involved," said Officer Cody Tapley, spokesperson for Sacramento Police Department.

Police say the suspects will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

"It's one of those things where it's just property, and there's other ways to get your property back and there's other ways to get your property back, so we never encourage anyone to approach somebody over property. Call the police and the police can come and mediate the situation. That's what we're here for," said Tapley.

Sacramento police say a firearm was found at the property. They say there is no danger to the public at this time since both individuals are in custody.
