SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State Hornets will face The Texas A&M-Commerce Lions on Saturday night at the Memorial Stadium. The game will kick off at 4 p.m.
Sac State is looking for its second win of the season, while Texas A&M-Commerce hopes to get its first win. Sac State has lost two games against FBS schools, San Jose State and Fresno State, but played well enough to be highly ranked in the polls.
The Hornets are ranked #11 in both the Stats Perform Top 25 Poll and the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll. Texas A&M-Commerce is unranked.
Texas A&M-Commerce had a close game last week, losing to Grambling St in overtime.
Game Preview
Sac State is playing a Southland conference team that finished sixth in the 2023 season. Last week the Hornets took on Nicholls State Colonels and won 34-7.
Sac State defensive linebacker Will Leota is coming off a strong game against the Colonels where he had a game-high 10 tackles. He was named the Stats Perform FCS Defensive Player of the Week and the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Sac State could have its hands full with Texas A&M-Commerce quarterback Ron Peace, who had a solid game against UC Davis last weekend, throwing 621 yards and three touchdowns.
