SACRAMENTO, Calif. — There was heavy traffic Friday along southbound I-5 in Sacramento.
The California Highway Patrol responded around 4:15 a.m. to a crash involving a big rig carrying hay and a Toyota Corolla along southbound I-5 near Sutterville Road. The big rig overturned and spilled hay into the road, blocking lanes. All lanes reopened around 9:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.
Drivers were advised to take Highway 99 to avoid traffic.
In the traffic north of the crash, a vehicle caught fire. Crews quickly put out the fire, but drivers passing by around 5:30 a.m. could still see it smoking.
There were no injuries in the crash involving the big rig or the car fire, according to California Highway Patrol.
