SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Small Business Saturday is an annual event held the day after Black Friday to support local businesses nationwide.

The Midtown Sacramento Farmers Market brought dozens of small businesses together to let folks get some early holiday shopping in.

“This is actually like one of my best days of the year, so I really look forward to it,” said Chandra Stewart, owner of Black Lily Naturals.

She makes and sells candles, room sprays, car fresheners, soaps, body butters and more.

“I’ve been a part of this community, the Midtown Farmer’s market, for the last three years and it’s just been an awesome way to get my name out there, get my products out there, and also engage with people,” she said. “It’s really great for people to come out and support their local community.”

More than half of small business owners anticipate Small Business Saturday will make a significant contribution to their overall holiday sales this year, according to American Express.

“It’s a beautiful day, come on, visit us, and spend some money,” said artist Fonco Tolomanoski.

He specializes in collage work and mixed media. Tolomanoski says this annual event has been good for his bottom line year after year.

“I love Small Business Saturday, and I’m really appreciative to be in a city that helps with that,” he said. “Sacramentans are very for it and they support us, so I love it.”
