Solo spinout on I-5 kills 1, injures others

According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Lexus was heading northbound on the freeway when it spun out and hit a tree near El Camino Avenue.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A child died in a car crash in Sacramento on Saturday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Lexus was heading northbound on the freeway when it spun out and hit a tree near El Camino Avenue.

CHP was alerted of the spinout around 10:15 a.m. Officials said a man was driving the car and had three child passengers. Three of the people had to be taken to the hospital, where one of the children was pronounced dead.

The extent of the other passenger injuries is unknown at this time. Due to the storm, more spinouts have been reported throughout the region.

Neither the identities or ages of the people involved have been released.
