Spirit Airlines announces service between Sacramento and Las Vegas

Beginning this summer, Spirit Airlines will begin nonstop service from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to McCarran International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento International Airport is adding another airlines for its customers.

Airport officials announced they are partnering with Spirit Airlines to bring their "low fares and signature service" to the capital city. Beginning June 20, 2019, Spirit Airlines will offer nonstop service from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to McCarran International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas. 

Right now, there will only be three daily flights exclusively to Las Vegas, but the press release says those flights will provide, "dozens of connections to other Spirit destinations, including Columbus, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Philadelphia."

“SMF is thrilled to welcome Spirit Airlines to serve our community,” Cindy Nichol, Sacramento County Department of Airports Director, said in the press release. “Spirit’s low airfares will stimulate traffic for Sacramento passengers heading to Vegas for leisure, business and conventions. We’re pleased to provide greater choice to our travelers, and Spirit complements our existing airlines serving SMF.”

Sacramento now becomes the fifth California city to offer flights from Spirit Airlines. Earlier this week, Spirit announced it would begin flying out of Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) on June 20, as well. The airlines currently already flies out of San Diego International Airport (SAN), Oakland International Airport (OAK), and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
