Statue stolen from Clunie Community Center

The statue "Journey of the Imagination" was bolted to the table of the lobby at the Clunie Community Center.

The statue was stolen on May 24 between 1:50 pm to 2:15 pm. A red cart also went missing.

"I have no idea of who could've done this," said Lisa Schmidt, co-founder of Friends of East Sacramento. "It's been in this building for many years."

The statue weighs 110 pounds. She's been checking Facebook to find any clues.

Last year, in the same area of McKinley Park, a trellis was stolen from the garden and police found it after someone uploaded pictures on Facebook.

Maxine Lovig-Jensen was dropping off a book at the library with her dad when she noticed the statue gone.

"To me it kinda means everyone can live their dream," Lovig-Jensen said. "Maybe we should ask the librarian if she's seen anyone take it."

No luck there. The librarian said she didn't see anyone take it but knows its missing.

Schmidt says they spent around $6,000 on the statue several years ago. The money for it was raised through the East Sac Remodeled Home Tour.

Sacramento Police put out a post alerting people over the missing statue.
