SACRAMENTO, Calif. — At least 15 vehicles and one home were damaged after a fire North Sacramento Wednesday evening.
Sacramento Fire Department Captain Justin Sylvia said the crews were dispatched to a vegetation fire that escalated into a threat toward structures and multiple vehicles. He said about 15 to 20 vehicles were involved and along with one structure, an unoccupied home, which was a total loss. About five acres of land was burned.
The fire was reported along the 1400 block of Main Avenue around 7:30 p.m.
Due to the distance from hydrants, crews had some difficulties getting water on the fire, according to Sylvia.
Sylvia said crews were able to get a handle on the fire and save a lot of property in the area.
