Prepare for reduced lanes and traffic down 15th Street in Midtown Sacramento for the foreseeable future.
The city has begun the demolition process of the Sacramento Convention Center, part of an up-to $350 million project to update the center, Memorial Auditorium and Community Center Theater.
The City of Sacramento will begin demolishing parts of the Convention Center, starting with the Center’s Administration Offices on 15th and K streets.
The Memorial Auditorium's renovations are expected to be completed in the spring, while the Convention Center and the theater will be reopened in Fall 2020.
With the demolition underway, the city is limiting part of 15th street from J to K streets, reducing it by one lane.
Other impacts on the same portion of 15th Street include:
- Parking meters on the west side are unavailable until Fall 2019.
- One of two right turn lanes on J Street will close until Fall 2019.
- The bus stop on the west side of 15th Street was permanently moved to up one street to between K and L streets.
