Around two dozen Pizza Hut drivers across Sacramento County to be laid off | Update

According to new documents provided to Sacramento County officials, dozens of Pizza Hut employees are set to be let go as early as Feb. 12.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — New documents released by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors show at least 26 employed Pizza Hut franchise drivers are set to be laid off in the coming weeks.

"This action is expected to be permanent," said Brian E. Thompson, president of the PacPizza franchise of Pizza Hut.

The firings come as fast food industry workers will see their hourly minimum wage increase to $20 in April.

At certain Pizza Hut locations, customers will now have to go through third-party delivery services, like DoorDash or Grubhub, if they want pizza brought to their door.

Documents filed by Pizza Hut show the number of employees set to be laid off at each Sacramento area location, with some leaving as early as Feb. 12. They include:

  • 5323-A Elkhorn Boulevard, Sacramento - 7 delivery drivers
  • 1100 Fulton Avenue, Sacramento - 7 delivery drivers
  • 9015 Bruceville Road, Elk Grove - 4 delivery drivers
  • 6400-B Sunrise Boulevard, Citrus Heights - 4 delivery drivers
  • 604 West El Camino Avenue, Sacramento - 3 delivery drivers
  • 6619 Florin Road, Sacramento - 1 delivery driver
