Many cities likes to tout they’re the best or have the best of something – Sacramento claims to be the “Farm to Fork Capital.”

Farm to fork means getting farm-fresh products from your region to the dinner table.

Director of Public Relations for Sacramento’s Visitors Bureau, Kari Miskit, says it’s a part of the town’s culture.

“Farm to fork is not just a marketing gimmick in Sacramento,” Miskit said. “It’s really our way of life.”

The city is surrounded by 1.5 million acres of farmland, making it the largest agricultural producer in the nation, according to the Visitors Bureau.

“No major city in America is more centrally located amid such a vast range of high-quality farms, ranches and vineyards,” the bureau posts on its website.

The city has more than 40 farmers market and farmers can grow 365 days per year.
