SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Highway Patrol says a woman is dead after being hit by a car on northbound I-5 early Sunday morning.
CHP says they responded to a call of a vehicle vs. pedestrian on I-5 northbound at the US 50 transition. Once on scene, it was learned that a woman was driving a white Toyota going 65 miles per hour when she suddenly saw the other woman in front of her vehicle.
"The female adult driver was unable to stop in time and the left front of her vehicle crashed into the pedestrian causing major damage," CHP said. "Upon CHP arrival the pedestrian was declared deceased."
The driver was not hurt.
"The deceased pedestrian was a female adult, believed to be 22 years old from Sacramento," CHP says.
