SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif — A woman shot and killed during a robbery Friday morning in Sacramento County has been identified.
Uc Thi Vo, 57, died at Kim Tin Jewelry along the 6800 block of Stockton Boulevard in Little Vietnam Plaza after about six suspects broke into the family-owned business, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Vo reportedly owned the shop with her husband, according to neighboring business owners.
Vo and her husband operated in the area for decades, said Robyn Ha, a nearby business owner who says she’s known the couple for at least 20 years.
“It was just a comfort to see them,” she said. “A married couple like them, I always strive to hope to be as cute and as old as they were. They were really a loving couple.”
On Monday, there was a small memorial at the storefront started by Ha. The store itself was boarded up and broken glass was strewn about.
Facts of the case
The robbery happened in under a minute, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies do not know if any of the six suspects were armed with a gun, but each had a weapon used to break jewelry cases, according to law enforcement.
Vo’s husband reportedly fired a gun during the incident, investigators say.
Both the sheriff's office and business owners said there have been other crimes in the area, but something of this magnitude is rare. Business owners fear the suspects still at large could strike again.
It is unclear if Kim Tin Jewelry will reopen.
