SAN DIEGO — Three San Diego sushi restaurants are on Yelp's list of top 100 sushi spots in 2024.
The list features the best sushi restaurants across the country.
Makai Sushi in Hillcrest, with its sushi "burritos" and poke bowls, ranked No. 8.
Chef and owner Matthew Oliver, a Hawaii native, sources fresh seafood from local fisherman to create tasty dishes like a Cali Sushi Burrito and Seafood Tostadas, in addition to poke bowls and sushi rolls.
Two other San Diego spots ranked in the top 20.
Soichi Sushi on Adams Ave in University Heights was named No. 13, and Yoshino Japanese Deli in Carlsbad was ranked No. 17.
Soichi Sushi features authentic Japanese Omakase dining created by Chef Soichi. Ingredients are farm-to-table and sea-to-table, and meals can vary by day and person, according to its website.
At Carlsbad Village, Yoshino Japanese Deli brands itself as "the affordable sushi." Its menu includes poke bowls and sushi rolls.
Outside of California, Kauai Sushi Station in Kauai County, Hawaii, topped Yelp's list.
