ROCKLIN, Calif. — San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, of Rocklin, scored the second of four touchdowns against the Detroit Lions in the NFC championship game.
He will travel with the Bay Area team to Las Vegas Feb. 11 for 2024's Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Aiyuk was born in Rocklin, moved to Reno for high school and returned to Rocklin to start a collegiate football career at Sierra College. Here’s everything you need to know about the Rocklin-born athlete:
Sierra College
Aiyuk returned to Sierra College, a public community college in California’s Placer County, after playing football at Robert McQueen High School in Reno, Nevada, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.
He played at the Rocklin community college as a freshman and sophomore and overall scored 14 touchdowns, received 60 passes, ran an average of 96 yards per game and an average 16 yards per catch, according to Sierra College athletics.
In 2018, he transferred to Arizona State University (ASU), a move he made without even touring the college first, according to Arizona State news.
While he missed the opportunity to participate, Sierra College is where the 49ers held training camp from 1981 to 1997, according to Sports Illustrated.

Aiyuk played at ASU in 2018 and 2019.
In two seasons, he played in 25 games, scored 11 touchdowns, made 98 receptions and ran 1,666 yards.
In his last ASU game, Nov. 30, 2019, the Sun Devils defeated the University of Arizona 24-14.

San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco selected Aiyuk as the 25th first round NFL draft pick in 2020, two months after the 49ers’ last Super Bowl appearance where they lost 31-20 to the Chiefs. He signed a four-year contract.
During the 2023 regular season, Aiyuk had 75 receptions for 1,341 yards and seven touchdowns.
Compared to his first season, Aiyuk ran the ball nearly double the amount of yards this year than in 2020, according to ESPN.
In the 2023 postseason, he's had three receptions for 32 yards so far.
He averaged roughly 18 yards per game this season and scored seven touchdowns so far.
