San Joaquin County elections worker dies while working primary

"She truly cared about elections and dedicated her life to being a public servant."

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — A San Joaquin County elections worker died while working the primary election Tuesday.

According to the Registrar of Voters (ROV) Office, the worker was heading from the ROV officer to the election warehouse when the incident occurred.

“On behalf of San Joaquin County and my fellow Supervisors, we are deeply saddened to learn that De De Lievano, an employee in the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters Office, passed away on Tuesday evening," said Board of Supervisors chair Miguel Villapudua.

It's not clear how Lievano died.

Officials said she's been with the county for over 10 years, serving as an elections fields inspector and recently as an elections technician supervisor.

Lievano was described as a kind, caring and giving person, who was a committed and beloved civil servant.

"She truly cared about elections and dedicated her life to being a public servant," said Villapudua.
