NEWMAN, Calif. — Crews continue the search for a missing woman in the San Joaquin River Friday.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said it got reports of a water rescue around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. A mother, identified as Brenda Duran, jumped into the river after her 11-year-old daughter was struggling to keep her head above water. Duran also started struggling in the water.

Duran's 14-year-old son jumped in the water to help them. Both children made it out of the river, but the 30-year-old mother hasn't been found.

The sheriff's office searched for the woman until about 11 p.m. Thursday and then called off the search for the night due to visibility and safety concerns.

The sheriff's office resumed the search Friday in the Newman area near the waterways of the river along the 26800 block of River Road.
