STOCKTON, Calif. — The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is hoping to improve policing and community relations with a new, confidential online survey.
Sheriff Pat Withrow announced the survey during his monthly address near the end of October.
"We just kind of want to hear from you guys," said Withrow. "See how we're doing, if we can do something better, if we need to fix something we're doing -- we want to hear from that."
The survey, on the homepage of the sheriff's office's website, asks questions about the topics of community involvement, safety, experiences with the sheriff's office and demographics.
The questions range from how well the survey taker thinks the sheriff's office develops relationships with community members to what they think the greatest problems are within the county.
The final question on the survey includes a blank text box and asks if there are any other things the sheriff's office should know about.
"You can immediately go and let us know whether their service was really good or if there's something we can improve upon," said Withrow. "That will be a nice way for us to stay in communication with each other and make sure we're giving you the best product possible."
To get more responses, the sheriff's office plans on rolling out new business cards with a QR code for the survey.
