SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. — Rumors about a possible shooting involving rival gangs at the Sikh Parade in Yuba City are just that, rumors, officials said.
The Sutter County Sheriff's Office said there is no credible evidence suggesting a shooting during the parade and it's a sentiment echoed by the FBI, too.
The bureau said they were aware of potential violent threats involving rival gangs in the area of the Sikh Parade from Nov. 1-3. They too said the threats were unverified.
"Although these threats are unverified, we will continue to work closely with our partners to ensure the safety of the community at the event," FBI officials said.
Days before the festival, the Sutter County Sheriff's Office said they were aware of potential threats that "may arise each year surrounding the publicity of the parade."
Following up with ABC10, the sheriff's office said there was no credible evidence suggesting a possible shooting during the parade.
"It is important to remember that with an event of this size, and people traveling from all over the world, there is always a possibility of chaos and/or rumors," the sheriff's office told ABC10.
