Sky River Casino announces expansion with parking garage, hotel, pool and more

Construction on the first phase is set to begin this year and end by summer 2025.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — Sky River Casino in Elk Grove is planning a large two-phase expansion that would add a new parking garage, hotel, pool and event space.

Wilton Rancheria and partner Boyd Gaming Corporation held a news conference Friday to discuss details.

  • Phase 1 includes a multi-story, 1,600-space parking garage with enhanced valet service. Work is set to begin this year and be complete by summer 2025.
  • Phase 2 contains a 300-room hotel, outdoor pool, day spa, event and entertainment space and 400 more slot game options. Phase 2 is expected to be complete by early 2027 but is contingent upon availability of materials and weather.

“We are very proud of what we have created – and continue to imagine – at Sky River Casino,” said Jesus Tarango, Wilton Rancheria Chairman. “With these expansion plans now firmly in process, the future is even brighter for the Elk Grove community, greater Sacramento area, and for generations of Wilton Rancheria people, the only federally recognized Tribe in Sacramento County. I want to thank the Tribal Elders and citizens of Wilton Rancheria for their support. We would also like to gratefully acknowledge the invaluable support extended by the city of Elk Grove, Sacramento County, and our state leaders, along with the incredible reception by an amazing and welcoming Northern California community.”

Wilton Rancheria has 140 acres of land, including the casino and parcels around it. Around 77 acres of that was recently put into federal trust with plans to develop tribal services.

Sky River Casino employs around 1,600 people and the expansion will add about 200 more jobs.
