SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Incomplete South Sacramento sidewalks are set to be connected at several intersections to improve pedestrian safety as part of the South Sacramento Sidewalk Gap Closure Project.
The project is estimated to cost $2.2 million and is set to begin construction in spring 2025, which will span 1,650 feet in total.
Approved by Sacramento County Supervisors Tuesday, connectivity in the Florin neighborhood will also be improved by installing sidewalks at various places near Anna Kirchgater Elementary School and Florin High School.
Drainage improvements and ADA ramps are included in the project.
Sidewalk and intersection improvements are set to take place at the following locations:
- Power Inn Road and Stevenson Avenue
- Power Inn Road and Elsie Avenue
- Elsie Avenue
- Stevenson Avenue and Cottonwood Lane
- Cottonwood Avenue and Middlesax Way
- Cottonwood Avenue and Sierra Sunset Drive
12 trees, including two native oak trees, are expected to be removed with the project.
