What's in store for vacant office park in Sacramento's Little Saigon in 2024?

One community leader told ABC10 the office park on Riza Avenue & Stockton Boulevard has been unused for almost 15 years until it was recently purchased.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A long vacated office park and plaza in Sacramento's Little Saigon community is revamping starting this year after it was recently purchased by WellSpace Health.

County officials helped the company purchase the 13-acre office park for $4.75 million to build a community wellness campus—which would include a 988 call center for behavioral health crisis intervention.

Stockton Partnership executive director Frank Louie said he's excited to see the vacant property develop into a community wellness campus and hopes to see people start working out of the campus by the end of 2024.

"The buildings are being reimagined to have the highest and best uses," Louie told ABC10. "We have an abundance of retail spaces here. It'll be great to have a wellness campus that will service the community and the seniors."

He said the entire project should take anywhere from five to seven years.

As the property begins redeveloping, Sacramento city and state officials are placing 175 tiny homes in an adjacent lot along Stockton Boulevard. The tiny homes are part of the 350 provided to Sacramento by Gov. Gavin Newsom in early 2023.

"We understand the tiny homes will be there temporarily for three years," Louie said. "There's also beautiful murals painted on the building that you can see if you drive by.

WellSpace Health collaborated with the nonprofit Wide Open Walls to paint large-scale murals related to the Tết and Lunar New Year. The murals will be officially unveiled Saturday at 10 a.m. on 6820 Stockton Blvd.
