A section of southbound I-5 will close for 55 hours this weekend in Stanislaus County

Here are the detours you should take.

WESTLEY, Calif. — Part of southbound I-5 at Ingram Creek Road in Westley will be closed this weekend from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday.

Erin McQueary, public information officer with Caltrans District 10, explains why the 55-hour closing is necessary.

"We have to do a full closure of the bridge because we’re replacing the center portion of the bridge deck. We have to demolish it and replace it, reconstruct it. So, when the demolition is done, there's going to be a hole in the highway at the bridge over Ingram Creek that's going to be 18 feet wide by 100 feet long. So for safety reasons we just can't have traffic in that area," said McQueary.

Below are detours from Caltrans:

  • Travelers on Southbound I-5 exit southbound State Route 33 > southbound Rogers Road > westbound Sperry Ave. > return to southbound I-5.
  • Travelers on Eastbound I-580 continue to southbound I-5 > diverted off I-5 at Ingram Creek Road, where the on and offramps will be used as a single lane.

Anticipate some additional traffic in the Patterson area at Sperry Avenue and Rogers Road.

Caltrans doesn't anticipate any closings needed in the area after this work, but if they do, it would likely be single-lane closings at night.
