STOCKTON, Calif. — A Stockton couple was sentenced last week after killing their daughter in 2020.
According to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, Billy and Takiesha Williams pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after beating their child, 7-year-old Billie Williams, to death. They were then sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
The plea stems from a May 2020 crime where Billie’s biological mother called police for a welfare check fearing for her child’s life.
Upon arrival, officers found Billie’s body covered in bruises and wrapped in blankets in the backseat of a car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Billie died by repeated blunt force trauma. Prosecutors say Billy and Takiesha hit, punched, slapped and whipped Billie for months ultimately causing her death.
“This case represents the darkest depths of child abuse, where a vulnerable life was stolen in the most horrific way by the very people who should have protected her. Billie’s memory will not be forgotten, and this office will continue to fight for those who cannot defend themselves,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “We remain committed to holding abusers accountable and ensuring the safety of all children in San Joaquin County.”
